By Jessalyn Hutto
When was the last time you heard anyone talk about the topic of “miscarriage”? Me neither! That’s part of what M.I.A.2Hope is trying to do – make this an “ok” topic to talk about – online, in public, with friends and family and in houses of worship. Statistically, miscarriage occurs in 10-20% of all clinically viable pregnancies (March of Dimes). Thus, a more common occurrence than many would think.
Over the years, I’ve tried to find resources or books that speak to the topic of a miscarriage, especially from a faith perspective. I’ve not had much success. Recently, I was told of the book Inheritance of Tears by Jessalyn Hutto. Mrs. Hutto authored this book in 2015 from her own life experiences and a deep study of scripture as related to grief and God’s goodness. While her book is primarily written to encourage women who have experienced a miscarriage, I found it to be extremely helpful for me as a man.
